Paul Noring is a leader of BRG’s Financial Institution Advisory practice.

The practice specializes in assisting commercial banks, consumer finance companies, credit unions, mortgage banks, capital market participants, and insurance companies to solve pressing business issues. The group brings the right mix of functional experts, including CPAs, CFAs, CROs, CRCMs, FRMs, former regulators, data scientists, financial modelers, PhDs, technologists, former bankers, and long-time consultants to address immediate risk and drive lasting resolution/improvement.

Mr. Noring has over thirty-two years of banking, consumer finance, and capital markets expertise. Before joining BRG, he led the Banking, Insurance & Capital Markets practice at an international management consulting firm; was a senior officer at Fannie Mae; and was a partner at a Big Four firm.

Mr. Noring has led hundreds of engagements covering all phases of the lending lifecycle, from origination to secondary marketing to collateral disposition. He has deep product experience in commercial lending, mortgage, auto, student lending, indirect lending, and specialty finance, including fintechs and true lenders. Within capital markets, he has worked extensively with securitization transactions and syndications, as well as derivatives, FX, and securities trading. He has served clients of all sizes, including central banks, the largest global banks, leading captive auto finance lenders (where he has signed audit opinions that were filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission), and top student lenders, as well as community banks, credit unions, and de novo fintechs.

Mr. Noring has conducted dozens of due diligence reviews in conjunction with potential acquisitions, investment, and vendor oversight. He is steeped in strategy, target operating model development, accounting, finance, operations and compliance, and change management. He has worked on more than ten accounting restatements and numerous investigations. He has helped clients establish compliance management systems, performed regulatory response/remediation engagements (including large look-back reviews), conducted gap analyses against existing requirements, and served as an independent consultant/monitor.

Mr. Noring has significant international experience in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He has testified as an expert witness in some of the financial institution industry’s most high-profile cases.
