Neil Cornelius is an energy and resources economist with over twenty-five years of experience in global energy markets and resource issues, particularly global electricity and gas markets, European and international carbon markets, and the UK water sector.
He has significant expertise in market and regulatory design and analysis, including implications for the viability and value of existing and planned assets and activities, contracts, and the project development process.
Mr. Cornelius was previously a partner at a Big Four firm in the UK, leading economic consulting for the energy and resources sectors. He has advised clients on various aspects of the UK energy market and development of new UK energy assets, assessed the economic impact of a range of energy projects in the UK and internationally, and acted as the lenders market adviser for major project-financed power projects, including reviewing main security package documents.
In addition to a wide range of consulting experience, Mr. Cornelius has significant experience in the energy industry. His roles have included the global head of Power Market Analysis for BP Alternative Energy, responsible for revenue due diligence and project development and negotiation support to renewable and gas-fire power projects; and a number of commercial and project development roles for National Power involved in the development, negotiation, and financing of major power projects in Pakistan, India, and Australia.
