Mike Stitcher has over twenty years of experience serving healthcare clients.

He currently focuses on areas including payment reform, changing clinical analytics requirements, and clinical integration among providers. He has led numerous consulting engagements for leading academic medical centers, health systems, and other healthcare organizations.

Mr. Stitcher has extensive experience in the negotiation and facilitation of changing reimbursement methodologies between payers, providers, and regulators; resolving challenging coding and billing matters; and developing and implementing strategic performance improvement plans. He has conducted market demand studies, clinical program development analyses, merger and clinical integration assistance, developed business plans, and certificate-of-need assistance. He has also led engagements for severity-based coding audits; severity-based clinical documentation improvement programs for hospitals, physicians, and integrated delivery systems; fraud investigations; ICD-10 implementation planning; and coding and documentation risk assessments.

In addition to consulting experience, Mr. Stitcher served as director of Reimbursement and Clinical Economics at the University of Maryland Medical System and senior vice president of Clinical Economics at Mercy Medical Center.

Bundling Readmissions

Working with an academic medical center’s transformation team, BRG led a successful statewide effort to bundle readmissions into 30-day case rates that included both the initial admission and readmission.
