Nathan Basseen has over 10 years of experience providing financial, operational, and strategic advice to clients in a variety of industries, including healthcare, automotive, pharmaceutical, and entertainment. Mr. Basseen has been involved in numerous payer-provider disputes involving the reimbursement of out-of-network healthcare claims. In such cases, Mr. Basseen has routinely used multiple data sets, including OSHPD, MedPAR, AHD, and HCRIS data.
Mr. Basseen has also been involved in disputes involving contract interpretation and healthcare customs and practices. These engagements have involved describing the types of services included in “inclusive” rates, such as per diems and case rates; along with providing insight as to what reimbursement mechanisms are typically incorporated in different healthcare settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and professional services.
Mr. Basseen has performed numerous types of audits. Recently, he reviewed healthcare claims on behalf of a large entertainment company. Additionally, he has performed assessments on behalf of the federal government. He has also been asked by counsel to review records to determine documentation accuracy.
In addition to Mr. Basseen’s experience with different types of review functions, he has performed numerous valuations in healthcare, information technology, entertainment, and e-commerce retail sectors, among others. He has performed valuations for healthcare clinics, including dialysis centers and diagnostic imaging centers.
His experience involves the review of financial statements, development of financial projections for use in both valuations and damage analyses, and development of complex financial models. He has assisted with detailed financial and operational reviews for numerous healthcare entities, and his work has helped to identify the financial viability of organizations through ratio analysis. Additionally, Mr. Basseen has performed numerous valuation analyses dealing with bankruptcy and fraudulent conveyance issues.
Mr. Basseen graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee with a double major in Economics and Human Organizational Development. He is an Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
