Mustafa Hadi leads BRG’s Asia-Pacific region.

He specialises in addressing issues of valuation, damages and accounting in complex commercial and investment treaty disputes, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity (PE), joint venture, shareholder, breach of contract, financial services and intellectual property disputes. 

Mr. Hadi has been instructed as an expert in international arbitration and in court and is experienced in oral testimony. His experience spans matters involving the ICC, UNCITRAL, HKIAC, SIAC, DIAC, KCAB and CIETAC, and in the courts of Australia, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Ireland, the Cayman Islands, the BVI, Bermuda and the Bahamas. 

Who’s Who Legal has featured Mr. Hadi in numerous guides to the leading experts in international arbitration, commercial litigation, economic consulting (quantum of damages), forensic accounting and energy, which describe him as: combining “exceptional technical proficiency in valuation and damages matters with an engaging and credible presence in oral testimony”, “outstandingly smart” and “very strong at presenting his opinions”. In its 2019 to 2024 Arbitration Expert Witness guides, Who’s Who Legal recognised him as a Global Elite Thought Leader and ranked him amongst the most recommended experts in the Asia-Pacific region. 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Hadi worked as a strategy consultant, advising PE funds, financial institutions and corporate clients on commercial due diligence, market entry and corporate strategy. Alongside his dispute work, he also provides valuation advice for strategic, restructuring and tax purposes and advises on economic and financial issues in regulatory matters. 

Mr. Hadi regularly presents to law firms on damages and valuation issues and facilitates advocacy workshops on the cross-examination of expert witnesses. He has also been a guest lecturer on the LLM in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution programme at the University of Hong Kong. 

Mr. Hadi is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Academy of Experts. He is also a member of the Finance & Administration Committee of HKIAC. He holds an MA in physics from Cambridge University.
