Laura D'Andrea Tyson

Special Advisor


Laura D’Andrea Tyson is a Distinguished Professor of the Graduate School and faculty director of the Institute for Business and Social Impact at the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business. She is also the chair of the Board of Trustees at the Blum Center for Developing Economies at UC Berkeley. She served as dean of London Business School from 2002 to 2006 and as dean of the Berkeley-Haas School from 1998 to 2001.

Dr. Tyson was a member of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) Semiconductor Working Group. Previously, she served as a member of the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness and the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board. From 2011 to 2013, she was a member of the US Department of State Foreign Affairs Policy Board. She served in the Clinton administration as the chair of the Council of Economic Advisers (1993–1995) and the President’s National Economic Adviser (1995–1996).

Dr. Tyson is a senior advisor at The Rock Creek Group, McKinsey Global Institute, and Berkeley Research Group. She is a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and a steering committee member at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth. She is an advisory council member at the Brookings Institution Hamilton Project and an advisor to the Alliance for Competitive Taxation. She is the co-chair of the World Economic Global Future Council on Education, Gender, and Work.

Dr. Tyson serves on the board of directors of AT&T, Silver Spring Networks, and CBRE Group Inc. She is a board member of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board and the Opportunity Institute. She is the coauthor of Leave No One Behind, a report for the United Nation’s High-Level Panel on Women’s Economic Empowerment.
