Dr. Thomas Hildebrand has advised clients in all fields of competition economics, in numerous court proceedings and in cartel cases.

Dr. Thomas Hildebrand is an economist with over fifteen years of consulting experience. He has advised clients in all fields of competition economics, representing them before the European Commission, German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt) and Swiss Competition Commission (WEKO) and in court proceedings on the plaintiff and defendant sides. He has advised in cartel cases including trucks, air cargo and synthetic rubber; and in merger proceedings such as RHI/Magnesita, HeidelbergCement/Italcementi and Immonet/Immowelt. His industry experience spans grocery retailing, fast-moving consumer goods, banking, chemicals, cement, refractories, automotive parts, freight forwarding, print, television/online advertising and digital markets. He has particular expertise in the application of statistical and econometric methods to competition cases.

Dr. Hildebrand holds a doctorate in economics from Humboldt University of Berlin and a double diploma degree in economics from Humboldt University and the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Économique (ENSAE) Paris. His research has focused on two-sided markets and financial economics and has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Management Science, Economics Letters and Research Policy. Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal) has recognized him as a Global Elite Thought Leader under 45.

Dr. Hildebrand worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio 15 programme Governance and the Efficiency of Economic Systems at Humboldt University and a guest researcher at the Deutsche Bundesbank.

Dr. Hildebrand is based in BRG’s Berlin office and speaks German, English and French.
