Dr. Peter Bird is a managing director in BRG’s London and Singapore offices. He has thirty-six years of experience working in and advising on the power industry.

Before relocating to London, he was based in Singapore for over a decade and has worked across Asia-Pacific and globally.

A former executive vice chairman at Rothschild & Co, company board director, and PhD economist, Dr. Bird leverages his unique combination of transactional, industry and academic experience to provide expert testimony on economic and financial issues relating to projects in the infrastructure, energy, and utilities sectors.

Dr. Bird enjoyed a distinguished investment banking career, spanning thirty years, retiring as executive vice chairman and continuing as senior advisor. His principal focus was M&A in the energy utilities and infrastructure sectors, as co-lead of the global power team advising on over $50 billion of high-profile deals in the sector.

Prior to investment banking, Dr. Bird earned a PhD from Cambridge University and was an academic economist publishing over thirty academic articles in peer-reviewed journals. He then worked in the oil and nuclear sectors and as an economic consultant, advising on the privatisation of the England and Wales electricity supply industry and playing a key part in designing the rules of electricity spot market.

Dr. Bird has been a board director of a listed electricity utility and has served on other energy sector boards. He also has acted as senior advisor to a private equity fund focused on infrastructure and energy in emerging markets and to an African power generation company.

Dr. Bird disputes experience includes testifying as a power-sector expert, quantum expert on valuation, expert on private equity, and expert on M&A and project finance.
