Maurice Berbel

Managing Director

Maurice Berbel has over thirty years of experience advising financial institutions on consumer banking, operations improvement, technology modernization, and large-scale transformation. He helps clients redesign operating models, modernize platforms, and apply automation to improve productivity, controls, and customer service.

Mr. Berbel has led multiyear programs for major US banks, credit card companies, and mortgage institutions. He has deployed default-management platforms, redesigned high-volume operations, strengthened collections governance, and developed technology roadmaps. He has also applied artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, and other digital tools to complex banking processes.

Mr. Berbel has extensive experience in building and leading consulting practices. He has managed over 250 banking professionals and assembled teams across operations, technology, product, data, risk, and compliance. He advises chief operating, information, and risk officers on transformation priorities, investment decisions, governance, and implementation.

Before joining BRG, Mr. Berbel spent eighteen years at a Big Four firm, where he served as a banking practice leader, client-serving partner, and consumer banking transformation leader. He previously held roles at Bear Stearns and global professional services firms.

Mr. Berbel holds a BA in finance and economics from Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business.
