BRG Continues Growth of Financial Institution Advisory Practice with Banking Transformation Leader Maurice Berbel

October 7, 2026

BRG today announced that Maurice Berbel has joined the firm’s Financial Institution Advisory (FIA) practice as a managing director in its Operations & Technology Transformation team. A former Big Four banking practice leader, he brings over 30 years of experience advising financial institutions on consumer banking, operations improvement, technology modernization and large-scale transformation. His appointment continues BRG’s expansion of its operations and technology transformation work for financial services clients.

Berbel has extensive experience building and leading banking practices with teams across operations, technology, product, data, risk and compliance. He has served as consumer banking transformation leader and client-serving partner to some of the largest US banks, credit card companies and mortgage institutions. He has advised chief operating, information and risk officers on transformation priorities and led programs to modernize platforms, redesign operation models and apply automation to improve productivity.

“Maurice has spent his career focusing on the operations that banks depend on most, and he knows how to modernize them while maintaining control of risk and customer service,” said Tri MacDonald, CEO and president at BRG. “As financial institutions move from experimenting with AI to running on it, they need advisors who have done this work at scale. Maurice brings the right experience and knowledge of the operational realities where AI can create the most meaningful value for clients.”

Berbel will help clients modernize the core operations that matter most to their customers and regulators. He has experience applying artificial intelligence (AI), robotic process automation and other digital tools in complex banking environments and helping institutions move efficiently from experimentation to execution.

Earlier in his career, Berbel was vice president at Bear Stearns, where he focused on mortgage transformation, and held roles at Andersen Consulting/Accenture and Mercer Management Consulting. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and economics from Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business.
