Lawrence Krug
Lawrence Krug specializes in European merger control and competition litigation.
Lawrence Krug provides economic analysis and strategic advice on competition and antitrust matters across the European Union (EU). He has significant consulting experience advising on European Commission (EC) merger investigations, proceedings before national competition authorities across Europe, follow-on damages claims, and regulatory antitrust matters.
Mr. Krug specializes in three core areas: merger control, competition litigation, and regulatory antitrust matters.
On merger control, Mr. Krug’s focuses lie on EC Phase I and II investigations and proceedings before national competition authorities such as the German Bundeskartellamt and Austrian Bundeswettbewerbsbehörde. He has also worked on transactions before competition authorities in Romania, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. His analysis spans the full spectrum of merger control, from early strategic assessment through detailed competitive effects analysis and remedy design.
In addition to merger work, Mr. Krug advises extensively on follow-on damages claims arising from cartel decisions, combining economic quantification with guidance on causation, pass-on analysis, and damages calculation under EU and national legal frameworks. He also provides economic advice on stand-alone commercial contract disputes with competition dimensions.
Beyond litigation, Mr. Krug supports clients on regulatory competition matters, including abuse of dominance investigations before the EC and national authorities and sector inquiries. His recent work includes economic analysis supporting gatekeeper designation proceedings under the Digital Markets Act.
Mr. Krug has contributed to policy discourse through publications in industry journals, including coauthoring “Buyer Power, Labor Markets, and the Future of Competition Policy” (BRG ThinkSet, 2025) and “More Likely Than What? The Relevance of the Counterfactual in Nascent and Dynamic Industries” (CPI Antitrust Chronicle, 2023).
