Juri Demuth

Associate Director

Dr. Juri Demuth is a competition economist who specialises in merger control, cartel damages litigation and abuse of dominance matters.

Dr. Juri Demuth is an associate director in the firm’s Berlin office. He has more than a decade of experience advising clients across all fields of competition policy before the European Commission and national competition authorities, including in Germany and Austria.

Dr. Demuth has extensive experience in merger control proceedings, including Telefónica/E-Plus, Lafarge/Holcim and Zalando/About You. He has also conducted overcharge and damages assessments in private litigation cases following cartel investigations and worked on abuse of dominance matters. His industry experience spans basic industries, energy, telecommunications, e-commerce, retail, banking, railways and waste management.

Dr. Demuth holds a doctorate in economics and a diploma degree in physics from Freie Universität Berlin and is a graduate of the Berlin Doctoral Program in Economics and Management Science. In his doctoral research, he applied microeconomic theory to questions in industrial organisation and regulation.

Dr. Demuth works in German and English.
