Jason Gu

Managing Director

Jason Gu is a managing director in BRG’s AI & Decision Intelligence practice. He specializes in artificial intelligence (AI) transformation and building AI operating systems that convert expert knowledge, enterprise data, and business workflows into scalable decision intelligence. He focuses on helping organizations move AI from concepts and pilots into production-grade platforms, commercial products, revenue-generating capabilities, and durable competitive advantage.

Dr. Gu brings more than fifteen years of experience building planetary-scale data and AI ecosystems across financial services, healthcare, energy, and the internet of things. Before joining BRG, he served as vice president and head of AI for a Fortune 500 global payments network, where he built the enterprise AI function from inception to several hundred engineers and led development of AI platforms and products generating more than $1 billion in annual recurring revenue. His systems have operated at global scale, powering billions of daily, real-time AI decisions and helping protect tens of billions of dollars from fraud annually.

Dr. Gu combines deep technical expertise with executive leadership and commercial execution. Recognized among the top 100 computer science researchers in the United States, he holds more than ninety patents, has authored over one hundred publications across AI-related fields, and has received more than 9,500 research citations. He brings both scientific depth and practical experience turning AI innovation into enterprise-scale products and business value. He has advised executive teams and boards on AI strategy, governance, platform modernization, product commercialization, and AI-related mergers and acquisitions.

Dr. Gu previously served as a founding architect of a major health AI and informatics business, where he helped build enterprise platforms applying AI, data, and analytics to healthcare decision-making. He also served as a founding professor at an international research university and holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Minnesota.
