Janice Jacobs

Managing Director Emerita

Janice G. Jacobs is a managing director emerita at BRG. Her career has spanned over forty-five years in the healthcare industry, including experience with hospital accounting and auditing; inpatient, outpatient, and professional fee coding and compliance; and revenue cycle management.

Ms. Jacobs has provided compliance advisory services to some of the country’s top academic medical centers, including Stanford, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Yale, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has served as an expert witness and provided expert testimony in litigation cases involving disputes regarding documentation, billing, and coding. She also has served as the independent review organization for clients under corporate integrity agreements with the US Office of Inspector General.While at BRG, Ms. Jacobs developed the compliance suite of services specific to private equity investors for merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions and developed BRG’s dental service offering for coding and compliance.

Before joining BRG, Ms. Jacobs was a director and developed the Regulatory Compliance and Coding practice at a professional services firm. She also was a director in the Healthcare Compliance and Investigations practice of a global management consulting firm, working with healthcare clients nationwide and international offshore organizations to ensure federal and state compliance to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse.

Ms. Jacobs is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Pennsylvania, a Certified Professional Coder and Certified Professional Compliance Officer with the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), a Certified Coding Specialist and AHIMA-Approved ICD-10 Trainer with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), and a Radiation Oncology Certified Coder with the American Medical Auditing Company (AMAC).

She is an AAPC Ambassador supporting their organization’s numerous chapters and over 250,000 members. Additionally, she developed curriculum and exam content for AAPC’s Certified Professional Compliance Officer (CPCO) certification.

She is a frequent speaker at regional, local, and national conferences, including AAPC, HFMA, AHLA, and ABA.
