James Kucera is a director in BRG’s Retail Performance Improvement practice specializing in store operations.  

Mr. Kucera brings over fifteen years of experience in reducing operational expenses, driving top-line sales growth, achieving process improvement, managing field operations, attaining fulfillment optimization, and performing change management in complex environments. His clients benefit from his expertise in store operations, labor strategy, shrink management, in-store technology, store and field organization structure, and strategic investments to drive revenue and margin.  

In previous roles, Mr. Kucera has served as a trusted advisor to store leaders, C-suite executives, and private equity firms addressing strategic and operational challenges faced by their companies. He has led store operations projects in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.  

Mr. Kucera has significant experience advising clients across all areas of retail and store operations, including luxury, off-price, mass/hardlines, pet care, pharmacy, furniture, and fuel/automotive. He has extensive experience in leading transformation projects and delivering on value-creation opportunities in accelerated timelines.  

Before joining BRG, Mr. Kucera held leadership roles at AlixPartners’ retail practice focusing on operational improvement; and previously held operational management roles at Ross Stores and Abercrombie & Fitch.
