Director

Eric Hammelman has more than twenty years in healthcare data and risk adjustment experience.

Eric Hammelman is a data-driven analyst with more than twenty years of experience in healthcare data and risk adjustment. A leader in translating complex data analytics into actionable business strategies for healthcare entities, he has directed teams to conduct data-driven analyses of the impact of payment policies on healthcare patterns, including the effects of emerging payment and delivery models on providers, manufacturers, and health plans.

Mr. Hammelman has experience analyzing large data sets including Medicare, Medicaid, and private payer claims to identify trends and patterns and then forecast those trends to estimate future impact. He has developed user-friendly models in Excel to estimate premiums, medical costs, and coverage implications for state and federal proposals. He has spoken at healthcare industry conferences on the impacts of health reform on providers and prepared white papers and reports about short- and long-term healthcare trends.

Most recently, Mr. Hammelman led the reporting and analytics team for a large retail healthcare provider. His team investigated both healthcare and retail data to enhance operations; and monitored and improved overall data quality. He previously led a risk adjustment analytics team for Medicare, Medicaid, and Affordable Care Act business lines at a large Blues health plan. During his tenure, the team identified and implemented new processes to expand risk adjustment operations by engaging members and physicians more efficiently by combining claims, clinical, and other nontraditional data to create a comprehensive risk profile of enrollees and providers. Earlier in his career, he provided investment advice to institutional investors about companies in the healthcare services sector.
