Bob Marcum is a managing director in BRG’s Energy & Climate practice and has over thirty years of experience in energy and infrastructure finance and organizational transformation. He advises clients on energy and infrastructure investments including capital structuring, distressed asset strategy, transaction execution, and legal disputes. He works with clients to evaluate investment opportunities, manage risk, and navigate financial and regulatory complexities. Mr. Marcum has leadership experience in both public and private-sector roles and excels in aligning mission-driven investment with national and international energy priorities. His practice encompasses project finance and corporate finance transaction advisory, due diligence, restructurings and bankruptcies, and official lender program design.
Mr. Marcum previously held senior roles with the US Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office (now EDF). As deputy director, he served as second-in-command of the program office, directing $61 billion in new loan closings for US energy, critical minerals, and manufacturing projects. As chief operating officer, he led organizational change management efforts. As director of the Portfolio Management Division, he oversaw asset management including restructurings and bankruptcies for the $32 billion portfolio. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Saudi Aramco and the Export-Import Bank of the United States. He has worked on power and infrastructure projects across Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and other global markets.
