Andy Hickl is a managing director in BRG’s AI and Decision Intelligence practice. He has three decades of experience developing artificial intelligence (AI) systems. He also serves as chief technology officer of the Allen Institute, where he leads efforts to integrate cutting-edge computational techniques into bioscience research. He previously held leadership roles at companies including Microsoft, Intel, and Accenture.
Mr. Hickl is an AI leader with expertise in natural language processing, computer vision, and large-scale (foundational) AI models. He has focused on building practical AI systems across domains including defense, intelligence, biomedicine, and data-heavy scientific environments. He is a recognized expert in natural language understanding and multimodal models that combine text, images, and other data to solve complex problems. His experience spans both research and real-world systems, with a focus on making AI useful, reliable, and scalable.
