
Alena Kozakova
Alena Kozakova is a competition and regulatory economics expert with experience in public authorities and economic consulting.
Alena Kozakova specialises in applied microeconomics, industrial organisation and economic regulation with particular expertise in utilities, manufacturing, retail and platform competition. She is a director in BRG’s London office with experience in competition and regulatory economics across public authorities and economic consulting. Her work focuses on applied microeconomics, industrial organisation and economic regulation.
Ms. Kozakova has worked on a range of competition and regulatory matters across industries. She has particular emphasis on utilities, manufacturing, retail and platform competition as well as in public policy and regulatory finance.
Before to joining E.CA Economics, Ms. Kozakova was chief economist of the UK water regulator Ofwat. She also worked at both predecessors of the UK Competition and Markets Authority—the Office of Fair Trading and the Competition Commission—as well as at the Directorate-General for Competition within the European Commission.
Ms. Kozakova holds master’s degrees in economics from the University of Economics in Prague and City University in London. She also holds degrees from the Institut d’études politiques de Paris and École nationale d’administration (now Institut National du Service Public).
In addition to her consulting work, Ms. Kozakova serves as a nonexecutive director on the board of the UK Gas and Electricity Markets Authority.
Ms. Kozakova is fluent in English, Czech and French.
