BRG’s Business Insurance Claims Practice Expands in EMEA with New Hires

BRG today announces the next phase of expansion of the firm’s Business Insurance Claims (BIC) practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) with the arrivals of managing consultants John Scaccia in Dubai and Alessandro Steggall in London.
These additions mark the latest step in a period of sustained growth for the BIC practice in EMEA, following the appointments of managing director and EMEA BIC practice leader Richard Cameron-Williams in June 2025 and director Mark Jennings in October 2025. A key to expansion plans has been to establish a permanent BIC presence in the region to service the developing and increasingly sophisticated market in the UAE, building on the foundations of BRG’s long-established disputes offering in the Persian Gulf.
A fluent Arabic speaker and chartered accountant, Scaccia has spent over a decade in the Gulf region, working on some of the largest business interruption cases and commercial disputes across the Middle East and North Africa. He recently completed his MBA at NYU Stern School of Business and previously led high-stakes forensic accounting investigations and valuations for an international consultancy. His project experience spans insurance, energy and power, and manufacturing as well as healthcare, retail and hospitality.
Steggall has worked extensively on large and complex losses for policyholders, insurers and reinsurers, both domestically and internationally. His expertise covers claims for business interruption, delay in startup (DSU) and advanced loss of profits (ALOP), warranty and indemnity, professional indemnity, and other specialised insurance products across industries including energy, manufacturing, oil and gas, petrochemicals, construction, real estate and financial services.
Commenting on the expansion, Cameron-Williams said, “Establishing a permanent BIC presence in Dubai is a crucial milestone in the expansion of BRG’s offering in the region. The insurance industry is inherently global, and our strengthened ability to provide on-the-ground support with regional expertise to international clients across jurisdictions sets us apart from others in this space. I’m delighted to welcome John and Alessandro to the firm. They will be invaluable as we take our offering to the next level”.
Scaccia added, “BRG’s established presence in Dubai across related practices such as disputes, construction and asset tracing made it a natural platform to expand the firm’s BIC capability in the region. I’m excited to help grow the BIC practice, and I look forward to working closely with my colleagues across EMEA and the US to deliver clear, consistent and technically rigorous claim support”.
Steggall said, “The culture and breadth of knowledge at BRG has really impressed me. I’ve already had the chance to work on some of the most complex claims across jurisdictions, alongside colleagues in the US and elsewhere. I’m excited for what the future holds as the firm builds upon these strong foundations in EMEA”.
Further hires for the BIC practice in EMEA are expected in due course.
