BRG announced today that Xiang (Jerry) Li has rejoined the firm as a director in its Energy & Climate practice. He is an expert with nearly twenty years of experience in energy markets, energy economics, valuation, and quantum and damages. Based in Washington, DC, he will advise clients on complex disputes, valuation matters, market analyses, project finance, and strategic transactions spanning the power, renewables, liquefied natural gas (LNG), natural gas, and midstream energy sectors.

“Jerry has built his career at the intersection of energy markets, financial economics, and dispute resolution,” said Christopher Goncalves, chair of BRG’s Energy & Climate practice. “He combines deep expertise in energy market economics, project finance, and valuation with significant experience quantifying damages in high-stakes disputes. As the industry’s demand for sophisticated economic expertise continues to build, Jerry will further strengthen our ability to help clients address business-critical challenges and disputes.”

Mr. Li has led and supported myriad international arbitrations involving investor-state and commercial disputes under the auspices of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), as well as domestic litigation matters involving complex energy and financial issues.

Mr. Li has worked as a business advisor with global and national energy companies, utilities, independent project developers, equity investors, and banks on matters related to energy infrastructure, project financing, market analysis, and asset valuation. His experience spans oil and gas pipelines, natural gas storage and LNG facilities, transmission lines, hydrogen production facilities, merchant thermal power plants, and renewable energy assets.

Mr. Li previously spent over seven years at BRG as a managing consultant and associate director. Earlier in his career, he worked at Siemens Industry (Pace Global) and as a financial analyst.

“I’m pleased to return to BRG and contribute to the impressive growth of the firm’s top-tier Energy & Climate practice,” said Mr. Li. “As global energy demand surges and economic volatility persists, clients will face increasingly complex questions involving energy markets, asset valuation, project economics, and cross-border disputes. I look forward to working with my talented BRG colleagues to help executives, commercial leaders, and lawyers navigate those issues and make informed business, investment, and dispute resolution decisions.”

Mr. Li earned an MBA in finance from George Washington University and a BS from St. John’s University. He is also a CFA Charterholder.
