BRG today announced that Dr. Tim Boersma has joined the firm’s Brussels office as a director in its Energy & Climate practice.

Drawing on nearly two decades of experience in energy consulting, research and regulation, Dr. Boersma will support clients across Europe and around the world on matters involving greenhouse gas (GHG) and natural gas strategy, liquefied natural gas (LNG) markets, and energy transition policy.

“Tim brings a unique blend of market knowledge, policy fluency and analytical precision to our global team,” said Chris Goncalves, chair of BRG’s Energy & Climate practice. “As energy systems grow more complex and interconnected, his perspective will further strengthen our ability to help clients make informed, forward-looking decisions. We’re excited to welcome him to the firm.”

Dr. Boersma has worked at the intersection of energy markets, trade, and policy throughout his career. He has led research efforts on natural gas, GHG, and LNG markets at Columbia University and the Brookings Institution; directed sustainability strategies for oil and gas clients at ABN AMRO Americas; and served as partner at a boutique consulting firm.

“I’m thrilled to join such a dynamic, thoughtful and highly skilled team,” said Dr. Boersma. “BRG’s global reach, analytical depth, and strong client focus make it an ideal place to continue my work.”

In addition to his consulting practice, Dr. Boersma is a fellow and incoming adjunct professor at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy. He has coauthored three book manuscripts and published in Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Foreign Affairs, Nature, and other leading journals.

Dr. Boersma earned his PhD in international relations from the University of Groningen (Netherlands). He speaks Dutch, English, German, and Portuguese.
