On July 6, Christopher Goncalves presented a masterclass on “Energy Transition and Security Implications for LNG Markets, Contracts, and Pricing.” He discussed topics related to liquefied natural gas (LNG) and natural gas, including:
- Greenhouse gas (GHG) footprints for natural gas and LNG supply chains
- Policy scenarios for GHG mitigation (e.g., regulation, taxation, and/or price incentives)
- Implications for international pricing and trade of natural gas and LNG
- Implications for price reviews and other international dispute resolution
- Strategic priorities and options for LNG suppliers/sellers and consumers/buyers
- Commercially viable strategies for mitigating methane emissions
- Achieving synergy in the energy transition across the value chain, from wellhead to border
- How the decarbonization of LNG differs from that of pipeline gas
Mr. Goncalves also joined Yong Bum Kim, Desmond Kuah Kazuyoshi, and Lawrence Koh on July 7 for Session 4, “The Drive for Decarbonization in the Global LNG Market and Energy Transition in Asia.” The group discussed Asian markets, renewables, and topics including:
- The latest innovations in decarbonizing the LNG supply chain cost effectively
- The priority for Asian buyers on low methane intensity in a disrupted, volatile LNG business environment
- Best practice in the measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) of GHG emissions for the LNG supply chain
- The marketing drive to promote low-carbon LNG in the current business environment
