
Thomas Fearis
Thomas Fearis connects lawyers, corporations, and government agencies with BRG experts in complex and high-stakes disputes and investigations.
Thomas Fearis is BRG’s Asia-Pacific (APAC) Head of Business Development and Client Services and a member of the firm’s APAC leadership team.
Mr. Fearis splits his time between BRG’s Hong Kong and Perth offices and works closely with the firm’s Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) professionals. He has over thirteen years of global experience in the legal industry across three continents, working in a variety of roles including as a disputes associate, tribunal secretary, and in business development and marketing. He has a strong commercial orientation and an established track record working with BRG clients to select the right experts and consultants on complex, high-stakes matters, often valued in the billions of dollars. He also leads the APAC region’s strategic initiatives around business development, account management, and go-to-market programs.
Mr. Fearis has developed particular expertise in international arbitration and serves on the committees of the Hong Kong Arbitration Charity Ball, ACICA45, ICC YAAF, and Young ICCA.
Before joining BRG, Mr. Fearis worked at an elite US law firm in Hong Kong, where he led business development and marketing initiatives across APAC for the firm’s international arbitration, mergers and acquisitions and private equity, and corporate risk and government investigations practices. He trained as an arbitration lawyer at leading chambers and law firms in Hong Kong, London, Paris, and Perth.
Mr. Fearis earned a BA in political science (international relations) and Asian studies with distinction and an LLB from The University of Western Australia, with study abroad periods at the University of Helsinki and Université Paris Cité. He is qualified as a solicitor and barrister in Western Australia (non-practising). A triple Australian, British, and Irish national as well as permanent resident of Hong Kong, Mr. Fearis is conversant in French and Portuguese.
