James Farrell is a director in BRG’s Litigation, Forensics, and Dispute Resolution practice.
For over thirty years, Mr. Farrell has advised clients with complex economic, financial, valuation, and business and litigation needs. His expertise includes financial and economic damage assessments, forensic accounting, business valuations and advisory, investigations, and expert witness testimony across industries including real estate, manufacturing, construction, financial services, agriculture, retail, hospitality, professional services, and healthcare.
Mr. Farrell provides written and oral expert testimony for matters involving contract disputes, business valuations, post-acquisition disputes, white collar investigations, shareholder disputes, government contracting, litigation arising out of bankruptcy, professional negligence, and breach of fiduciary duty and warranty before federal and state courts, arbitrations, and UNCITRAL, Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), International Criminal Court (ICC), and London Maritime Arbitrators Association tribunals.
As a damage expert, Mr. Farrell’s experience includes lost-profit calculations; business valuations; destruction/diminution of goodwill/reputation; and analysis of compensatory, incidental, nominal, liquidated, and consequential damages resulting from delay, disruption, acceleration, cumulative impact studies, and changing conditions of construction projects.
Mr. Farrell began his career in public accounting. Later, he held a management position in a real estate company that developed commercial office buildings, residential units, and warehouse and industrial space for purchase and sale. He also held a position at one of the nation’s largest shopping center owner/developers, where he became familiar with complex financing, development, and ownership agreements and their structure, as well as complex leasing agreements.
