Haylee Zhao, PhD, applies mathematical modeling, econometric methods, and quantitative analysis to complex litigation and consulting matters. She has conducted economic analyses in large antitrust matters involving allegations of collusion and monopolization, as well as the potential anticompetitive effects of mergers and other business conduct. Her work includes analyzing competitive effects, pricing and market dynamics, and economic damages across industries including technology, transportation, financial services, manufacturing, and agriculture. She works closely with testifying experts to develop and implement robust empirical methodologies to evaluate alleged anticompetitive conduct and measure its economic impact, including in matters involving large, complex, and imperfect datasets. She contributes extensively to the preparation of expert reports and related work product and provides guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Before joining BRG, Dr. Zhao was a quantitative researcher at Morgan Stanley. She developed, implemented, and validated pricing and risk models for equity derivatives using numerical methods, including Monte Carlo simulation and finite-difference methods for partial differential equations. She also prepared comprehensive model documentation supporting internal governance and regulatory requirements.

Dr. Zhao has published research in peer-reviewed journals including Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, Journal of Scientific Computing, and Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications.

Dr. Zhao holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh and a BA in mathematics, with a minor in economics, from the University of Minnesota. Her doctoral research focused on computational and applied mathematics, including the development and analysis of numerical methods for complex dynamical systems.
