Intelligence That Works

McLean joins BRG’s healthcare practice, underscoring the firm’s ongoing investment in healthcare advisory services

BRG today announced that John McLean has joined the firm’s healthcare practice as a managing director based in the Atlanta office. He brings more than 25 years of experience working with health system boards, executives and clinicians to identify emerging market needs and support provider transformation, financial turnaround, operational improvement and workforce-related strategies.

McLean’s appointment underscores BRG’s commitment to advancing its healthcare advisory platform and supporting providers through complex financial and operational transformation. He brings deep expertise at the intersection of strategy, execution and workforce innovation, helping organizations improve performance across enterprise operations and technology-enabled care models. A leading voice on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in future-state labor models, McLean will co-lead BRG’s Operational Excellence team with BRG veteran and former hospital executive David Wildebrandt.

“John brings a rare ability to connect strategy with execution at a time when healthcare organizations are being asked to do both—quickly and at scale,” said Rich Bajner, a managing director at BRG. “As we continue to build out our broader healthcare platform, his experience in strategic transformation and AI-enabled workforce models will be critical to helping our clients adapt—and lead—in today’s ever-changing market.”

As healthcare organizations navigate workforce challenges, operational pressures, federal funding reductions and the increasing role of technology in care delivery, McLean will direct the deployment of complex strategic and operational solutions to ensure success in an evolving industry landscape.

“BRG’s premier healthcare advisory capabilities, paired with the firm’s focus on delivering practical, results-oriented solutions, makes it the ideal next step in my career,” said McLean. “As providers manage unprecedented financial, workforce and operational roadblocks, I look forward to helping organizations translate strategy into sustainable improvements.”

McLean previously served as chief growth officer at Ovation Healthcare. He serves as a board advisor to Litehouse Health, an AI-drive end-to-end workforce management platform. He has also held leadership roles at Guidehouse, spent almost two decades at Premier Inc. and held a senior leadership role at the Advisory Board Company.

BRG’s Healthcare practice welcomed 11 managing directors and directors in 2025. The firm’s recently announced Advanced AI & Decision Intelligence practice group signaled the expansion of its AI capabilities for healthcare systems.

McLean holds an MS in health systems from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a BS in industrial engineering from North Carolina State University.
