Intelligence That Works

BRG announced today that Dr. Sophie Park, a testifying economic expert with more than twenty years of experience across transfer pricing, antitrust, and securities litigation consulting, has joined the firm as a director based in Boston. Dr. Park advises on controversy, litigation, audit defense, and advance pricing agreement matters. Her arrival expands BRG’s transfer pricing offering, an area she will help build out alongside the firm’s Securities and Antitrust Economic Consulting teams.

“Sophie brings a rare combination of deep transfer pricing expertise and rigorous econometric training from her academic and antitrust and securities litigation background,” said BRG Vice Chairman David Sunding, leader of the firm’s Economics, Disputes & Investigations service line. “Her experience defending intercompany pricing positions and valuing intellectual property across technical industries strengthens our ability to support clients facing complex tax controversy and disputes. We’re delighted to have her on board as we grow our transfer pricing capabilities.”

Early in her career, Dr. Park worked as an analyst in an antitrust litigation group at a national economic consulting firm, supporting experts on price-fixing cases, damages calculations, and mergers and acquisition (M&A) matters in industries including textiles, chemicals, health insurance, and consumer goods and earning her SAS certification performing large-scale transactional data analysis. She later served as a senior financial economist at a management and expert consulting firm, where she supported securities cases involving ultra-short mutual funds and led an investigation into nontraded real estate investment trusts, which was presented at the 2011 Public Investors Advocate Bar Association meeting.

Since transitioning to transfer pricing in 2012, Dr. Park has led and supported expert witness engagements involving intellectual property valuation, intercompany pricing disputes, and statistical and financial analyses for clients across the pharmaceutical, medical device, software, mortgage lending, and consumer goods industries. She previously was a director in the Transfer Pricing group of a global financial and risk advisory firm.

“I’m excited to join BRG and help expand the firm’s transfer pricing practice,” said Dr. Park. “My background across antitrust, securities, and transfer pricing litigation has shaped how I approach economic analysis—grounded in rigorous, data-driven methods that hold up under scrutiny. BRG’s multidisciplinary platform and strength in economics and disputes create a natural home for that work, where technical and regulatory knowledge, quantitative skills, and litigation experience come together. I look forward to working with colleagues across the firm to deliver rigorous, defensible analysis for clients navigating audit, controversy, and litigation.”

Dr. Park earned a PhD and MA in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles; and a BA in economics (magna cum laude) from Wellesley College, with a minor in mathematics. She has academic experience teaching microeconomics and statistics.
