Jennifer E. Ziegler-Benjamin, CPA, is a managing director at Berkeley Research Group (BRG). She has provided expert testimony over one hundred times in depositions, trials, and arbitrations, for cases including accountants’ professional malpractice, fraudulent conveyance, breach of fiduciary duties, wage-and-hour claims, bankruptcy issues, and breach of contract matters.

She consults with clients and counsel on financial, accounting, auditing, valuation, bankruptcy, and regulatory aspects of business disputes and litigation, as well as complex business disputes involving the investigation, evaluation, and quantification of economic damages. She has experience in a wide range of industries, including insurance, healthcare providers, manufacturing, publications, precious gems, pharmaceuticals, startups, not-for-profits, government agencies, oil and gas, and homeowners’ associations.

Ms. Ziegler-Benjamin’s expertise encompasses damages, forensic accounting, and special purpose investigations regarding accounting, auditing, fraud, internal controls, fiduciary duties, and financial disclosure issues. Her experience spans three decades, encompassing a diverse range of litigation matters, including probate and estate disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, post-acquisition claims, business interruption, accounting professional standards, royalty disputes, and fraud investigations. She is a court-appointed accounting neutral, trustee, and executor. She holds certifications in Financial Forensics (CFF) and Fraud Examination (CFE).

Ms. Ziegler-Benjamin is a former chair of the California Society of CPAs (CalCPA) and was recently appointed as a Trustee to the California CPA’s Education Foundation. She also was reappointed to the CalCPA Litigation Steering Committee and Building Task Force Committee. She is an appointee to the California Board of Accountancy’s Enforcement Action Committee, a thirteen-person committee that offers technical guidance on open investigations, participates in investigative hearings, and reviews closed investigation files of licensed CPAs in California. She is a delegate for the American Institute of CPA’s Council and past treasurer and vice chair of the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice.
