Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

June 19, 2020

Today, June 19, is Juneteenth, a day that celebrates the end of slavery in the United States. On this day of profound significance, we affirm our commitment to protect and support the dignity, freedom, and opportunity in the Black community, and we renounce unequivocally racism, prejudice, violence, and hatred in all forms.

The emotional impact of George Floyd’s tragic death and the unjust deaths of countless others has been painful and palpable. During this time of unrest, as our nation—and the world—struggles to heal from recent events, we recognize both collectively and individually our responsibility to be part of the solution by fostering a diverse and inclusive community that offers a safe and supportive space for all of our colleagues.

Our efforts start with self-discovery as a firm. We have begun that work by engaging in a number of group listening sessions over the past few weeks. As part of our commitment to drive change with action, we have launched a formal Diversity & Inclusion initiative that will focus immediately on developing and retaining a workforce and leadership team that is more representative of minority and diverse backgrounds; fostering a stronger organizational culture that promotes inclusivity; fostering a stronger internal culture that promotes inclusivity; identifying, understanding, and reverting away from unconscious bias; and developing outreach programs that focus on helping and doing business with diverse communities.

We acknowledge there is much work to be done, and we welcome the participation of all who have voices and ideas to share as we move forward.

There are challenges ahead, but we are a firm that has never shied away from complex problems and holding ourselves accountable. We will embrace the journey.
