Mara Mitchel is a healthcare business and operations management professional who has experience impacting and driving business and technical strategy, direction, and success of an organization. She has held leadership positions in operation roles at both pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and pharmacies. She has experience with claims processing, system quality assurance, encounter processing, eligibility and card fulfillment, benefit plan administration, third-party payment and reconciliation, medical records and client reporting. She has also played an integral role in Medicare Part D operations including the launch of a new Medicare Part D plan.
Ms. Mitchel is a leading industry expert in claims processing. She is a longstanding member of the National Council of Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) and serves on the NCPDP Board of Trustees. She has served as the chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, Finance Committee and Educational Committee, as well as chair of the Long Term Post Acute Care work group and the ePrescribing and Related Transactions work group. She has served as a member of numerous other committees and task groups.
Ms. Mitchel was a speaker at the 2012 Educational Summit on the Med D Short Cycle Rule, a panelist at the 2012 NCPDP Short Cycle Dispensing Discussion, and the moderator of the NCPDP 2015 Educational Summit, Meeting Healthcare Needs Through Partnerships, Transparency & Trust. She also presented and facilitated the “Pharmacy Benefit Managers: What are they and how do they work?” session at the September 2017 Kutak Rock Basics of Insurance Law.
Ms. Mitchel received her BS in management with magna cum laude honor from Johnson & Wales University. She also has a Project Management Certificate from Boston University, Corporate Education Center.
