John H. Maher specializes in commercial bank governance, consumer compliance, and credit risk management. Mr. Maher advises clients with credit-related services, risk management, strategic planning and development, regulatory compliance, and organizational design. His clients include domestic and international banks and nonbank financial services providers.
Mr. Maher has over 25 years of financial industry and advisory experience. He was previously senior vice president and head of international strategic development at a major financial group in New York and Boston. In this role, he managed global initiatives designed to enhance product delivery to corporate customers worldwide. Mr. Maher also managed international trade promotion, including export lending and correspondent banking services.
Earlier, Mr. Maher served as the chief of staff and special assistant to the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of a bank in New York and London. In that capacity, Mr. Maher developed and executed various strategic initiatives both domestically and abroad.
Mr. Maher also was a member of the risk policy committee of the board of directors and an executive liaison between the European and North American operations of a banking group. He also served in the internal management consulting unit, where he advised executive management on a variety of cross-functional, strategic imperatives for business and operating units. Additionally, he served as a relationship manager for large and mid-size corporate borrowers. Mr. Maher also completed a commercial credit management training program while serving as chief credit analyst.
