Jean-Marie van der Elst



Jean-Marie Van der Elst has significant financial management, accounting, and corporate management experience. He has provided expert testimony on both financial and economic matters. His industry experience includes automotive, manufacturing, packaging and distribution, and retail in Europe, South America, Africa, the United States, Russia, and Eastern Europe.

Mr. Van der Elst has more than twenty-five years of experience, including forensic accounting experience in domestic and international mediation, contract disputes, business and consequential losses, loss of earnings claims, and divorce; as well as matters involving financial conflict or anticipated litigation. He has a record of successfully negotiating pre-litigation settlements outside of the formal mediation process.

Mr. Van der Elst has experience in structuring and financing successful public-private partnerships, improving production planning and logistics rationalization, product rebranding and repositioning, implementing financial and commercial risk management policies, international transfer pricing, free trade zone structures, and developing shared services centers. He has also participated in strategic planning and developed business renewal plans for a pharmaceutical company.

Mr. Van der Elst has led teams responsible for multiple benchmarking projects, including supply chain logistics as well as brand and business development redesigns for multinational beverage and tobacco companies. As a CFO in the packaging industry, he has experience in supervising finance and information technology, management accounting/treasury, tax planning, developing and executing financial structures, transfer pricing, and creating and implementing sales support finance solutions.
