Gary Zegiestowsky

Managing Director

Gary Zegiestowsky has over 20 years of experience in helping companies use data as a foundational asset to capitalize on market opportunities, optimize revenue, improve operations efficiencies, manage cost, and develop both short- and long-term strategies for growth, profitability, and client satisfaction. In his role with BRG’s Healthcare practice, he leverages his expertise as a highly accomplished business advisor with deep experience and knowledge in serving organizations across the healthcare continuum, including hospitals and integrated delivery networks (IDNs), health information exchanges (HIEs), accountable care organizations (ACOs), and health plans/managed care organizations (MCOs).

Over the last 10 years, Mr. Zegiestowsky has focused on helping clients optimize disparate data streams and turn them into actionable information. He has assisted a broad range of organizations in developing and evolving technology strategies to enable a population-based approach to care coordination and patient management, leveraging combined payer/provider data for targeted population management, applying informatics concepts to optimize the use of data at the point of care, and creating data-driven strategies to support value-based care models.

Before joining BRG, Mr. Zegiestowsky co-founded, built, and for 10 years led an award-winning healthcare IT company, Informatics Corporation of America (ICA). He co-founded the company with Vanderbilt University, secured private investor funding, assembled a management team, led licensing and commercialization of intellectual property from Vanderbilt, and delivered a commercially viable software product to market. He established ICA as a market-leading healthcare technology company, providing software solutions in interoperability and system-level intelligence, used to improve the health of populations served by hospitals and IDNs, HIEs, ACOs, and health plans and MCOs. He developed a base of more than 40 clients across the country, serving over 1,100 healthcare provider organizations and more than 1 million health plan members, and positioned the company as a national market leader, winning recognition and awards for innovation from prestigious analyst organizations.

Prior to ICA, as chief operating officer at Progeny Marketing Innovations, Mr. Zegiestowsky drove the turnaround of a $500 million division to regain $30 million in lost revenue and improved client satisfaction from 30 percent to 90 percent. Immediately prior to his tenure at Progeny, he was a director in the Strategy Services Consulting Group for Andersen Worldwide, where he managed more than thirty engagements in strategy, revenue enhancement, organizational effectiveness, and process redesign.

Mr. Zegiestowsky has strong skills in entrepreneurship and business acceleration and was honored as “Nashville Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2011 for his leadership of ICA. He has demonstrated high-level analysis and critical thinking skills, which enable his successes in disciplined data-driven solutions. He has extensive education and experience in the disciplines of business, information technology, and engineering. He was a management trainee for General Electric Company, completing assignments in marketing, manufacturing, and research with two GE businesses.
