David Martin has more than seventeen years of experience in the financial industry as a consultant, executive, and entrepreneur. He advises clients that include alternative investment funds (AIF), broker-dealers, mutual funds, registered investment advisers (RIA), real estate investment trusts, and public and private enterprises on business strategy, valuation, operational and regulatory risk, supervisory controls, best practices, project management, and litigation support.

Prior to joining BRG, Mr. Martin was the senior vice president of business development for the consulting division of a global investment management firm with assets-under-management (AUM) in excess of $50 billion dollars. Clients included pension funds, hedge funds, private equity funds, public companies, and law firms. He worked on assessing and addressing client needs related to compliance, governance, forensic investigations, and business intelligence. He consulted on issues pertaining to due diligence with regard to market risk, funding and liquidity, counter-party risk, leverage, financial, governance, regulatory, and operational risk. Additionally, he assisted in identifying, negotiating, and structuring strategic business alliances, affiliations, and joint ventures.

Mr. Martin founded and managed a strategic management consulting firm that focused on alternative investment funds, registered investment advisers, and related service providers to the AIF and RIA industry. During his tenure with this entrepreneurial venture, he was engaged by a multibillion-dollar AUM registered investment adviser to serve as an outsourced chief operating officer. Mr. Martin served as special counsel to the managing partner of the financial services practice of a Public Company Account Oversight Board-reviewed accounting and business services firm. In addition, he was engaged by the publisher of a well‐respected, high‐end publication that addresses cutting edge issues in hedge fund legal, compliance, regulatory, and risk assessment fields to provide business strategy.

Prior to launching his own strategic management consulting firm, Mr. Martin was a senior business development professional within the securities transactions services practice at a New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)-traded global consulting firm. He specialized in working with financial institutions and public and private enterprises that were confronted with critical legal, financial, and reputational issues. Additionally, he was a partner at an independent financial services consulting firm that focused on internal controls, risk management, and compliance services.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Martin served as a commercial real estate broker/advisor with global real estate services firm. He was the chief operating officer at a technology consulting firm that specialized in healthcare informatics, and an institutional equity sales and trading assistant at a global investment banking firm. He began his career with a broker-dealer, working on the floor of the NYSE.

Mr. Martin is a frequent guest lecturer at the State University of New York, Fashion Institute of Technology’s (FIT) Direct and Interactive Marketing Department, within the Principals of Direct Marketing program. He educates FIT students on strategic plan development and the various challenges of starting an entrepreneurial-based company.

Mr. Martin is certified by the Commercial Investment Real Estate Council of Realtors National Marketing Institute in “Financial Analysis for Commercial Investment Real Estate."
