Colin M. Long has more than thirty-nine years of combined consulting and litigation experience, specializing in energy and utility-related matters, environmental matters, and contractual issues. He also has more than fourteen years of experience as a litigator in private practice in California. After leaving private legal practice, he joined Arthur Andersen Economic Consulting as a senior manager in 1992. In 1996, he left Arthur Andersen to cofound Pacific Economics Group, Inc. He was also a senior advisor to a major specialized expert services firm and an auditing, accounting, and business consulting services firm.
Mr. Long has worked extensively in both the United States and Canada on regulatory proceedings and energy industry restructuring issues. He has worked on matters before both the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state regulatory commissions for electric utilities, natural gas pipelines, and oil pipelines involving rates, mergers, restructuring, and eminent domain proceedings. Recently, he has been involved in state regulatory proceedings related to the net metering debate with respect to rooftop solar installations.
Mr. Long has worked on several large environmental damages cases, including dioxin contamination in the Passaic River, DDT contamination in the Los Angeles Harbor, and various aspects of the damage claims arising out of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. He has also worked on contract disputes, primarily arising out of the energy industry, in both the US and Canada.
Mr. Long has coauthored two books dealing with the California energy crisis and restructured global energy markets, respectively. He has also coauthored journal articles with respect to various issues confronting the energy industry.
