Stephen Del Regno, a managing director in BRG’s Energy practice in Tokyo, is an industry-recognized commercial executive with over thirty-nine years of experience in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and energy markets.
He has lived and worked in Japan for over twenty-five years. He has experience in providing successful market-entry and competitive positioning strategies and has a broad network of industry relationships in Asian countries.
Mr. Del Regno has specialized skills, expertise, and experience as a thought partner to executive management, advising lenders, investors, and customers on LNG commercial due diligence issues, developing and leading successful LNG and gas marketing strategies for LNG producers, advising LNG buyers on procurement strategies, and establishing commercial market development organizations and effective marketing and transactions teams. He has a deep knowledge of not only LNG sales and purchasing, but also Asia gas pipelines and LNG receiving terminal infrastructure, gas-to-power generation projects, and the nuclear power situation in Japan.
At his previous position with a leading US LNG export venture, Mr. Del Regno established the group’s first LNG marketing office in Tokyo and led LNG marketing in Asia for two LNG export projects under development in the US Gulf Coast. Before that, he had established the first LNG marketing office in Japan for a major international oil company (IOC) and led frontline customer-facing commercial activities for that company’s natural gas and LNG projects in Asia, which secured sales and purchase agreements that underpinned financial sanction for two large greenfield LNG projects.
Mr. Del Regno has worked closely with international energy companies; national energy companies; independent gas, LNG, and power developers; gas and electric utilities; and international energy and development agencies in over thirty countries in North America, Eurasia, the Middle East, and Asia. He has been a noted speaker at over thirty international and regional LNG, gas, and power conferences.
