Sameer Mukherjee is a director in BRG’s New York City office. He applies statistics, econometrics, and economic theory to solve complex business problems and intricate data challenges.
He has extensive experience using econometric modeling techniques to quantify “but-for” economic damages and assess liability. He also has experience using statistical sampling techniques for the extrapolation of key metrics to a population of interest.
Mr. Mukherjee’s main areas of expertise are econometric modeling, statistical sampling, antitrust/competition, and Big Data analysis. He has used various econometric methods including propensity score matching, discrete choice modeling, time series analysis, and linear and nonlinear regression analysis.
Mr. Mukherjee has designed statistical sampling methodologies to identify potential “upcoding” and quantify overpayments for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursed healthcare services. His work in statistical sampling and extrapolation has been applied in healthcare engagements—False Claims Act (qui tam) matters, Zone Program Integrity Contractor (ZPIC)/Unified Program Integrity Contractor (UPIC) audits, Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG)/ Office of the Inspector General (OIG) investigations—and other industries, such as finance and shipping.
Mr. Mukherjee’s work in litigation and consulting engagements spans industries such as healthcare, finance, manufacturing, insurance, automobile pricing, shipping, environmental nuisance, technology, and telecommunications.
