Juan David Leal has experience in political intelligence, dispute advisory, litigation consulting, and complex investigations for large corporations, public companies, and high-profile politicians and business people.
He advises clients on managing risks, investigating fraud and conflicts of interest, understanding the competitive atmosphere, and leveraging critical information by helping map the competitive landscape; assess political, societal, economic, and operational risks; and identify competitor vulnerabilities or key levers for success.
Before joining BRG, Mr. Leal worked as director of Corporate Solutions at a Latin American firm that specialized in in national security, intelligence, and investigations for both public and private organizations and capacity building and institutional transformation for governments and law enforcement agencies.
Mr. Leal was also previously director in the Mexico office of a corporate investigations and risk consulting firm, where he conducted and participated in a wide range of complex investigations including cross-border business and competitor intelligence, investigative due diligence, litigation consulting, fraud investigations, and unfair practices.
Mr. Leal is trained in interviewing and evidence gathering, and he analyzes complex fact patterns to locate witnesses and evaluate their credibility. He was a journalist and editor in Agencia EFE’s bureau in Mexico, the largest Spanish language news agency in the world, where he led news teams and investigative stories, and built an extensive network of sources across many Latin American countries. In that capacity, he also lived and worked in Brussels and Madrid, where he broke news, conducted interviews, gathered evidence, and tackled longer investigative stories.
Mr. Leal is a native Spanish speaker and also speaks fluent English.
