Joe Sergienko is a managing director in BRG’s Financial Institution Advisory practice and has nearly twenty years of experience.
He assists clients with risk management and capital planning framework developments, reviews, enhancement, and comprehensive implementations.
Mr. Sergienko works with clients on complex risk, regulatory compliance, capital, and liquidity projects. He regularly advises clients on a wide array of risk-related projects, including capital and liquidity stress testing, operational risk management frameworks, credit administration processes, credit risk management and mitigation, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) end-to-end framework design and implementation, risk identification and quantification, governance and reporting, risk, and data analytics. He has extensive experience in assessing the impact of regulatory mandates and defining best practices for compliance.
Before joining BRG, Mr. Sergienko advised clients in risk management, stress testing, BSA/AML/OFAC, data governance, and capital planning at a global financial services consulting firm. He developed a deep understanding of the regulatory expectations on financial institutions, the key risks they face, and best practices to meet business requirements and address regulatory concerns.
Previously in his career, Mr. Sergienko focused on risk management, capital, and stress testing implementation at a financial services and bank holding company. He was involved in implementation of the Basel II capital framework and development of a robust stress testing framework to address dynamic business challenges and meet regulatory expectations. He also developed the organization’s recovery and resolution plan in the United Kingdom and the United States.
