Mr. Muthmann previously worked in corporate roles in leading energy companies along natural gas and LNG value chains, starting from gas sales, gas trading, international gas supply, and import contracts to LNG trading, long-term international LNG supplies, and business development. In these roles, he has, for example, been commercially responsible for a contract portfolio of up to 20 bcm/a of long-term import contracts; and negotiated and concluded numerous short- and medium-term sales and purchase agreements (SPAs) in gas and LNG and commercial optimization deals under long-term gas supply agreements. He has also renegotiated contract prices in the context of price-reviews under over a dozen long-term gas supply contracts (including a 15 bcm/a contract between a Norwegian seller and a German buyer). He was the founder and managing director of advisory boutique global gas partners, in which he served international clients in the context of advisory projects and as expert and witness in over fifteen arbitration cases concerning price reviews, commercial disputes, and investment treaty cases.
In his most recent position before joining BRG, Mr. Muthmann developed and implemented a new corporate vision and strategy for a leading European gas infrastructure player in the future decarbonized energy system. He was personally involved in developing several large-scale hydrogen projects (both blue and green hydrogen, including important projects of common European interest (IPCEIs) and PCIs) and took a leading role in coordinating stakeholders and project partners along value chains, inter alia via several mandates in project steering committees. He also was the founding sponsor of a hydrogen consultancy, for which he sat on the advisory board and chaired the board.
