Stuart Witchell and Mustafa Hadi Appointed Co-Leaders of BRG’s Asia–Pacific Region

Stuart Witchell and Mustafa Hadi, managing directors based in BRG's Hong Kong office, have been appointed co-leaders of the firm’s Asia–Pacific region. Mr. Witchell is the Asia–Pacific leader of BRG's Global Investigations + Strategic Intelligence practice, and Mr. Hadi is head of Disputes and International Arbitration in the Asia–Pacific region. In addition to Hong Kong, BRG’s Asia–Pacific office locations include Beijing, Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo.

Teece. “As we continue to expand our presence in Asia, Stuart and Mustafa will focus on addressing the growing needs of clients in the region, particularly in their core investigations and disputes arenas, as well as supporting the firm’s leadership in identifying opportunities to broaden the scope of services we offer in the region.”

Mr. Witchell has significant experience in the conduct of sophisticated business intelligence and reputational due diligence assignments in Asia and globally; in major fraud and corruption investigations, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) related; in multijurisdictional asset searches; in discreet strategies to assist with hostile takeovers; in provision of evidence for litigation support, including anti-dumping cases; in consulting on brand protection and product counterfeiting issues in emerging markets; and in crisis contingency planning and response. He has led many investigations and reviews into suspected accounting irregularities, bribery and corruption issues, and misconduct on behalf of regulators and corporates operating in Asia–Pacific, including supporting the special audit committees on a number of Chinese listed firms that have been the target of short-seller actions. He has been involved in investigation work throughout his career, conducting sensitive investigations in the Asian region and the former Soviet Bloc, including seventeen years as a diplomat in the British Government's Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Mr. Hadi specializes in addressing issues of valuation, damages, and accounting in commercial disputes and is frequently instructed as an expert witness in both national courts and international arbitrations. His experience includes the valuation of businesses, shares, and intangible assets, and the quantification of complex damages arising from M&A, shareholder, joint venture, intellectual property, and investment treaty disputes. Prior to specializing in this area, he worked as a strategy consultant, advising private equity funds, financial institutions, and corporate clients on commercial due diligence, market entry and analysis, and corporate strategy. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds an MA in physics from Cambridge University.
