Mr Williams has advised many of the major European telecoms operators, both fixed and mobile. He has also worked on projects for telecoms and media clients in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The studies Mr Williams has recently carried out include looking at the experience of Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) in Europe, a study into the efficiency of BT as part of Ofcom’s recent BCMR price control review and an analysis of the economics of mobile tower infrastructure in the UK as part of consultations on the reform of the Electronic Communications Code (ECC).

Commenting on Mr Williams’ appointment, BRG Managing Director and London office leader Daniel Ryan said: “The combination of industry experience and leading technical expertise is the foundation on which BRG is built. For some time we have been eager to add to both our economic regulation capability and our specialist industry experience and insight in the TMT field. We are thrilled to have secured Mark’s appointment and to have him continue to build a team and integrated practice in his field, particularly at a time when the market faces impending change and disruption”.
