From the Birth of the G7’s “Compact on Research Collaboration” to Its Activation
Harry Broadman, Bruce Guile, David Delpy, and Albert Pisano
The G7’s issuance of the “Compact on Research Collaboration” this June could prove to be pivotal in the way these governments engage in cross-border partnering in research and development (R&D). The objective, structure, and application of the G7’s international science and technology (S&T) agreements have not kept pace with the modern globalized economy. The authors outline how the United Kingdom and, subsequently, Germany should focus and execute the compact through multilateral, public-private R&D collaboration.
