BRG Appoints Managing Director to Strengthen Complex Investigations Capabilities in Asia-Pacific

June 18, 2021

BRG today announces Steven Parker’s appointment as a managing director in its Asia-Pacific (APAC) Disputes & Investigations practice. He will split his time between BRG’s Beijing and Hong Kong offices and have responsibility for growing the firm’s complex investigations practice across the region, with a particular focus on Greater China.

Parker, a forensic accountant, was previously a principal and independent consultant with the firm. His new position gives him increased responsibility in both a business development and client service capacity. His appointment, together with recent investments in technology and analytics, reflects BRG’s focus on high-value, complex investigations following the sale of its business intelligence practice to global consulting firm J.S. Held in May 2021.

A US-qualified CPA, Parker has more than 25 years of experience in the region. He has advised multinational corporations, private and public companies, banks and financial institutions on internal controls, risk frameworks, corporate governance and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)/anti-bribery compliance programs, as well as on issues relating to internal audits and risk assessments and across many industries. Having lived and worked in mainland China for over 15 years as a CFO, internal auditor and business process consultant, he has direct experience of the challenges faced by multinational corporates doing business in China. He is fluent in Mandarin and conversant in Shanghainese.

Mustafa Hadi, head of BRG’s APAC region, commented: “Steven’s appointment reflects our strategic focus on the largest and most high-stakes investigations, particularly relating to financial crime, where we can best harness our unique blend of technical expertise across forensic accounting, technology and analytics, hands-on in-country experience and in-depth industry knowledge”.
