Industry Experts Join BRG’s Health Analytics Practice

Berkeley Research Group has expanded its Health Analytics practice with the arrival of five senior professionals, further bolstering the firm’s considerable healthcare consulting expertise. The new professionals are Lance Robinson and Jason Beirne, based in BRG’s Baltimore office; Rick LaForge and Amy Showalter, based in Tampa; and Kevin Hamilton, based in Seattle.

Lance Robinson has over 17 years of healthcare experience focused on improving the overall contribution margin of complex health systems. Most recently, he was a senior vice president at a healthcare consulting firm where his projects focused on aligning physicians and staff to reduce overall operating expenses from a clinical and non-clinical perspective. Previously, he was the Corporate Vice President of Supply Chain for Vanguard Health Systems, where he managed over $400 million in supply chain expense. In addition, he held significant leadership roles at two global consulting firms, where he led significant supply chain and process improvement engagements resulting in multi-million dollar results for his clients.

Rick LaForge has more than 25 years of healthcare experience balanced between hospital finance, operations, and consulting. He specializes in operational improvement with a focus on clinical documentation and revenue cycle improvement, clinical transformation, and practice leadership. Mr. LaForge most recently served as a managing director at a global consulting firm where he led numerous revenue cycle, clinical documentation, and coding projects. He spent the previous 15 years with international healthcare consultancies.

Jason Beirne focuses on labor productivity, non labor cost reduction, and process redesign. He has more than 23 years of healthcare experience with the last seven years devoted to performance improvement consulting within the hospital environment. His hospital operations experience includes management engineering, pharmacy operations, and information technology services, while his consulting experience includes working with hospitals and health systems to help guide them through multi-million dollar performance improvement initiatives.

Kevin Hamilton was trained in the field of mechanical engineering, and applies this analytic and process foundation to solving complex business problems for hospitals and other healthcare providers. He has advised clients ranging in size from small rural hospitals to large health systems with projects that have included distressed hospital turnarounds, clinical transformation as well as strategic and operational refinement for high performing clients. Prior to joining BRG, Mr. Hamilton worked at three major consulting firms.

Amy Showalter, RN, has over 20 years of progressive management experience in hospital operations in both community and academic facilities. She has diverse experience in developing client/physician relationships leading change and managing clinicians. She also has a wide range of experience in nursing systems and processes, case management/capacity management, and clinical applications of information technology.
