David Teece Named Among A-List of Management Academics
Berkeley Research Group Chairman and Principal Executive Officer David J. Teece has been named to the inaugural “A-List of Management Academics 2011,” an honorary group of 30 accomplished and distinguished U.S. business professors. Dr. Teece, the Thomas W. Tusher Professor in Global Business at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, is considered a foremost authority on management, strategy, and innovation research.
“The A-List of Management Academics is comprised of the academic thought leaders of our time. It is our way of recognizing educator excellence based on their professional accomplishments, renown in their field, and most of all, their dedication to sharing their rich expertise with others,” said Dan Hoeyer, founder of Business Educators, LLC, a private organization that creates the list.
A-List honorees are chosen based on outstanding achievement and overall public interest in the academics’ work, gauged by search volume on Google. Honorees also must demonstrate active participation in their fields of specialty by publishing books or relevant articles within the last three years. The list also includes Nobel Laureate Robert Merton of MIT Sloan, Michael Porter from Harvard, and Charles O’Reilly from Stanford.
Dr. Teece, the author of 21 books, was cited as one of the top-ten most-cited authors world wide in business and economics from 1995 to 2005 by Science Watch. He co-authored the paper, “Dynamic Capabilities and Strategic Management” (Strategic Management Journal, 1997), which is the single most-cited paper worldwide during that ten-year period. His 2009 book Dynamic Capabilities and Strategic Management: Organizing for Innovation and Growth (Oxford University Press) was named one of the Best Books of 2009 by the management magazine strategy+business. He has been recognized by Accenture as one of the world’s top 50 business intellectuals.
