BRG Grows Presence in Eastern Europe with Senior Hire
BRG today announces the appointment of Anastasia Malyugina as a managing director in the firm’s Disputes and Investigations practice. She will be responsible for developing the business across Eastern Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Central Asia.
Based in London, Malyugina has experience across a range of industries and subject matters, with a focus on investor-state arbitrations and commercial disputes involving energy and natural resources, major infrastructure and construction projects, real estate and large-scale financial services litigation. She has worked with governments, financial institutions, large corporations and high-net-worth individuals, providing forensic accounting and valuation services, particularly in the context of ongoing or prospective arbitration or litigation, or in settlement negotiations.
Malyugina was previously a director at a Big Four firm, serving as head of Russia and the CIS Forensics Desk in London. Before that, she built her regional expertise working in the firm’s Moscow practice, moving up from associate to senior manager. She has specialised in forensic accounting relating to disputes since 2009. She is an Executive Committee member of the Russian and CIS Arbitration Network (RCAN) and a regular speaker at conferences and events relating to the CIS. She is also a native Russian speaker.
Commenting on the announcement, Greg Harman, a managing director and leader of BRG’s EMEA Disputes practice, said: “We’ve achieved significant growth in Eastern Europe, and the recruitment of Anastasia supports our strategy to further expand our presence in the region. Her experience handling cases across numerous jurisdictions and industries—in particular testifying as a forensic accounting and damages expert witness—will be of great value to our business”.
The appointment forms part of BRG’s global growth strategy, which has recently included the opening of an Africa practice based in Johannesburg, alongside senior hires in the EMEA and APAC regions.
Daniel Ryan, a managing director and head of BRG’s London office, added: “We are delighted with Anastasia’s appointment and look forward to welcoming her to the London team. She has a great deal of experience leading a region from London, and we have no doubt that her skills will serve her well at BRG”.
