Berkeley Research Group Appoints Industry Veteran Dave M. Johnson as CFO
BRG announced today the appointment of industry veteran Dave M. Johnson as chief financial officer. Kim Starr, who has served as BRG’s CFO since its founding in 2010, will become the firm’s chief accounting officer.
“Dave is a deeply experienced and highly sophisticated financial executive,” said BRG Chairman and Principal Executive Officer David J. Teece. “He is an ideal complement to our executive leadership team as we embark on the next step in BRG’s growth strategy with our financial sponsor, Endeavour Capital.” Endeavour became a minority investor of BRG in March of this year.
“It is an exciting time to join BRG,” said Johnson. “The firm has experienced significant growth since its inception seven years ago and is poised to continue its rapid rise to one of the world’s top consulting firms.”
Johnson has more than 30 years of financial services and capital markets experience. Most recently, he was the senior vice president and CFO of the International Rescue Committee, a prominent non-governmental organization that responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Before his service at the International Rescue Committee, he served as CFO at FTI Consulting, a global management consulting firm with several service lines similar to those of BRG.
Johnson’s experience also includes serving as executive vice president and CFO of Fannie Mae from 2008 to 2010 (he was appointed shortly after the company was put in conservatorship). In addition, he served as executive vice president and CFO of Hartford Financial Services Group, a publicly traded Fortune 100 company.
Johnson holds an AB degree with honors in social studies from Harvard University in 1982 and a master’s degree in economics from Yale University in 1986.
