The Economist's Associate Role

You will join as an associate. This position requires a driven, ambitious individual with a strong background in economics and econometrics and a desire to thrive within the organisation. The work of an associate is quantitative in nature. Projects range from economic-impact analysis to subject-matter research and modelling. You will work on complex assignments across a spectrum of industries, moving among our various practices, which include:
- Regulatory Economics
- Competition Policy and Antitrust
- Pricing Strategy and Cost Modelling
- Complex Financial Analysis
- Litigation Services in Commercial Disputes and International Arbitration
The cornerstone of our work is applying economics to real-world problems. You will combine intellectual rigour with developing practical experience to gain in-depth insight into how businesses, industries and markets operate.

What We Look For
The ability to think through complex issues and to present logical analysis in a clear, concise manner is vital to the services we provide to clients. Good team-working is essential, as we often work in small, focused teams.
We highly value a record of outstanding academic achievement in candidates at a graduate level and require a master’s degree or PhD in economics, econometrics or a related subject from a leading university. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate:
